Why I'm Starting This Blog

For the longest time, I kept telling myself that I would start writing.

I never really did.

Today, that changes.

Over the last few years, I've been working as a software engineer, building frontend and backend applications for a Japanese software company. During that time, I learned a lot about writing production code, working with teams, and shipping real products.

But technology is changing quickly.

With the rise of AI coding assistants and agentic coding tools, writing application code is becoming faster than ever. I use these tools every day, and I think they're incredible. Instead of competing against them, I'd rather learn the skills that become even more valuable because of them.

For me, that means focusing on things like cloud infrastructure, DevOps, system design, cybersecurity, and understanding how complex systems are built and operated.

This year, I'll also be starting my Master's in Cybersecurity at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), which makes this the perfect time to begin documenting everything I learn.

Why This Blog Exists

I created this blog for two reasons.

First, I want a place to document my own learning journey. Rather than letting notes disappear into notebooks or random files, I'd like to keep everything here in one place.

Second, I want these articles to help other people.

When I was learning AWS, Linux, deployment, and cloud concepts, I often found explanations that were either too simple or far too advanced. There wasn't always something that explained why things work the way they do.

That's the gap I'd like to fill.

I'll try to explain topics the way I'd explain them to a friend sitting next to me—simple enough for beginners, but practical enough to build real projects.

Most articles will be based on real projects instead of theoretical examples.

If I deploy something, I'll write about it.

If I break something, I'll probably write about that too.

Learning by Building

One thing I've realized over the years is that I learn best by building things.

That's why you'll see plenty of real-world projects throughout this blog. Instead of simply explaining what a service does, I want to show how it fits into an actual application.

You'll see architecture diagrams, deployment walkthroughs, mistakes I made, and the reasoning behind different engineering decisions.

Hopefully, that makes these articles more useful than just another tutorial.

A Small Goal

If even one student deploys their first application because of an article here...

If one junior developer finally understands a cloud concept that seemed confusing...

Or if someone becomes interested in cybersecurity after reading about my journey...

Then this blog will have achieved exactly what I wanted.
